Been a fan since: -
Favourite Sting song: Do you know how difficult that is?? I mean come on! That's like asking me to choose which of my children I love more, if I had any! OK but for real, it would be a deep cut of *two songs that live in my mind perpetually. 'January Stars' and 'Another Day' these tracks just allow me to fall into a deep place of introspection. Actually - upon closer evaluation, 'All Would Envy' is another that lingers in my mind from the live show in Berlin. I've changed my mind, 'The Lazarus Heart' OK one more! 'The Pirate’s Bride' there are too many provoking music pieces, it's just so hard to choose!
Favourite Police song: It would have to be something from 'Synchronicity', I’m an autodidact to the knowledge of Carl Jung. After all, it was you Gordon who introduced me to Jungian psychology, and I’m deeply grateful for that and the health it has brought me. Upon closer thought, allow me to say 'Secret Journey' from 'Ghost In The Machine'. It has a personal meaning to me.
Favourite Sting album: 'The Soul Cages'. It got me through a great deal of mental hardship, and I am indebted to you for that.
Favourite Police album: There isn’t a single track on there that I don’t love!
Most memorable concert: I have only had the chance to go to one! But it was in 2023 from the “My Songs Tour” in Toronto at Budweiser Stadium. Mainly because my tickets got upgraded from lawn tickets all the way to the front row. It was a long story of how I found myself there, but a fun story to tell nonetheless! It was September 5th of 2023, and I think my fondest memory was one thing that Gordon said, in particular talking about his home, and it was a warmly painted expression of a thought that lingers in my mind.
Other favourite bands: The María’s, The Raconteurs, The Sound, Radiohead, Zero 7, Genesis, The Blue Nile, Boards Of Canada, Casiopea, Masayoshi Takanaka, Shaggy, Gordon Lightfoot, Inhaler, Jackson C Frank, Jamiroquai, Kate Bush, Kraftwerk, Midlake, Miracle Legion, Nick Drake, Vashti Bunyan, Paul McCartney, Yellow Magic Orchestra, The Stranglers, Oingo Boingo, Chappell Roan, Peter Gabriel.
In Your Own Words: I haven’t had the easiest ride, and I think a lot of people can say that life is just difficult and full of suffering, and sure that is no surprise. Yet despite that, I have reconciled there is always a design to our fight. Purpose to every hardship, and reason to our struggle. I believe Gordon encapsulates this kind of ambition perfectly in his work. His music has nurtured my ears in real times of hardship. The world would be a sad place without you, and I am deeply gratified to be on Earth and walk the ground same as you. To be here and now; to witness all you’ve done, for me and so many others. It’s a privilege. I would love to sit down with you one day and share a cup of tea, I feel like we can have a lengthy discussion if I were afforded the opportunity one day. But maybe! Cheers to you Gordon!
